Wolof women in rural Senegal hand weave this fun striped bath bin from cattail stalks and strips of plastic. With alternating bands of silver and white, each bath bin can be used to store rolled towels, as a catch-all for bath toys or simply as a very stylish waste can.
The aqua and white plastic are either salvaged from fraying prayer mats and rugs or purchased new at a Dakar mat factory.

This item is fairly made in Africa. It has made its way here today thanks to the hard work of Leslie Mittelberg building a network of artisans across Africa. Each artisan is able to work from the comfort of their own home and community. The fair payment they receive will not be reduced by traveling expenses, childcare costs or haggled prices. The artisans use their earnings to put food on the table and pay educational expenses for their children.
