Soft bound journal with animal design appliquéd and embroidery on the cover. The entire journal is made of recycled cotton rags, making it 100% tree-free and environmentally friendly!
This journal is made by artisans in Jaipur, a city in the state of Rajasthan, India. It is a desert city with many arts that are struggling to survive. One of them is the art of making paper from recycled cotton by hand. Fair trade allows artisans to practice this art and teach it to their children. It is possible because the artisans have access to a market, and we help them develop products that will be attractive in international markets.
Wasim was born and raised in Sanganer village, in west Rajasthan, India. His family has been in the paper making industry for over 80 years, and he inherited the art from his elders. Made from recycled cotton rags, the raw paper is then converted into beautiful products such as journals, albums and other types of social stationery without the aid of heavy machinery.
