This Savannah shopper is stylish and practical. Handmade from leather, dyed using extracts of tree barks and plants by a co-operative of 40 families in Rajasthan. Each bag is lined with a pretty floral cotton fabric and contains an inside pocket with zip to secure any valuables.
The leather is made from full grain vegetable tanned leather hides. Tanning is done by traditional methods using extracts of bark and vegetable tannins. The leather is not "corrected" to eliminate or hide the natural scars or marks, this natural look and touch is what gives the bag it's wonderful character.
Since this is naked leather it will absorb any spillage like water and darken at that spot. The only maintenance required is to rub the leather with a soft cotton cloth and keep it away from dampness and moisture.
Each bag is cut and hand-sewn using meticulously handmade leather thread. Solid brass buckles are used, each individually handmade. Some bags take one craftsman a whole day to complete.
What better way to give than from one's hands to another. Our spirited handmade store offers gift ideas that support communities and connect cultures. Stories are shared through our handmade gifts from all over the world.

What is Fair Trade?
Fair Trade is a market based approach to solving social, economic and environmental injustice. Under Fair Trade standards, producers in developing countries are afforded economic opportunities to better their living conditions and have more control over their own lives. At the same time, environmental sustainability is given high priority as a key element in growth for current and future generations. Learn more about Fair Trade >
