Every basket in the collection is handwoven by an artisan partner, from natural materials sourced near where it was made. They are designed to do real work in your home, and to keep doing it for years.
Made from naturally tough materials, elephant grass, seagrass, reed, palm, rattan, and brass wire. Built by hand to hold blankets, laundry, firewood, fruit, or whatever the day brings home. Years of daily use, not seasons of it.
One basket, a hundred small jobs. Customers use ours for laundry hampers, plants, toy storage, pantry organization, throw blankets, mail by the door, and toilet paper next to the sink. Beautiful enough to leave out. Useful enough to keep using.
The natural materials, soft tones, and handmade texture work with what you already have. Layer them on open shelves, tuck them under a console, set them on the bath floor, or hang them on the wall. The room gets warmer the moment they arrive.
Each piece is handwoven by an artisan partner, in Vietnam, India, Morocco, Zambia, Ghana, Tanzania, Cambodia. No two are exactly alike. Small variations in shape and weave are the mark of the maker, not a flaw. They will age beautifully.
Roan Iris began in Bozeman in 2009, founded by Nicole, a fourth-generation Montanan, and her husband Thomas. After the loss of her mother to cancer, Nicole began curating handcrafted homewares from artisans around the world, drawn to pieces that carried real meaning and were made to be lived with.
The name is an anagram of her mother's, a quiet way of carrying her forward, and a nod to the iris that blooms wild across Montana. Every basket, bowl, and brass piece we sell honors that beginning. Made by hand, made to last, made to bring a little more warmth and presence into the rooms you live in.
Our Opal Wall Vessel is a Roan Iris exclusive, designed in-house and available only through us.
